Whenever this verse is used, people inevitably focus on the last part, and interpretations of that part are many and varied. Funny thing is, no matter how you read the last part, the first half of the verse stands strong and is really an idiot-proof command. Unfortunately, it rarely receives the attention that the other part does. So today I'm going to help by focusing on the first part:
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other.

And I assume that "each other" would be our neighbors, the way Jesus taught it, right?
Just spent a few minutes reading the entire chapter; good stuff there! (Go figure, it's in the Bible, duh!)
Speaking as a person who has a major deficiency in "showing love" while in disagreement this verse is very appropriate. A dear friend also sent me these verses from Proverbs... Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
I think the first couple verses prior to "trusting in the Lord" are also forgotten alot... let love and faithfulness never leave you. There was obviously a reason that these verses were before "trust in the Lord...".
