The Road Less Traveled

I was talking to an old friend yesterday, and he noted that we say we desire for God to be with us; to be Himself among us. Do we not want that? We ask Him to move among us, in our hearts, minds, and thoughts, but when He does, do we simply continue to go about our business the way we prefer, happy that we've "heard from God"?

Show me Your ways, O LORD;
    Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
    For You are the God of my salvation;
    On You I wait all the day.
Psalm 25:4-5, NKJV

You know, God could (and will, if we truly seek it) show us His path all day long, but until we commit to actually walking it, we've barely even begun the journey, if at all.

This reminds me of the verse in James 4:8 "Draw near to God and he will draw near to you". The point here is knowing God is a two way street. So many are "waiting" for God to draw near to them. The bigger question is what does it take in order for God to draw near to us? The rest of the verse gives clear instruction "Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded". Note the emphasis is on us to "Cleanse" our hands and hearts.
