Acceptable Law-Breaking III

It's really tough to use a small passage from Romans without using the surrounding chapters with it, but I will have to assume, or ask, that you will read (or have read) the surrounding Scriptures to take this verse in its proper context:

"But how can that be? Did the law, which is good, cause my death? Of course not! Sin used what was good to bring about my condemnation to death. So we can see how terrible sin really is. It uses God’s good commands for its own evil purposes." (Romans 7:13, NLT)

So... How's everyone doing lately with driving the speed limit? I have found that the law, in somewhat allegorical fashion, has made me aware of my sin. Now that I'm used to driving 45 miles per hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone ("That's just crazy," you may say. "It's really more of a suggestion than a rule; kind of like the '20 items or less' lane at Anger-Mart."), I'm automatically alarmed on those occasions when I begin absent-mindedly exceeding the speed limit. That is, I can feel that the car is doing what it shouldn't be doing: the engine is revving higher than it should. I can sense that houses and trees are whizzing by me in a blur. Okay, not a blur, but they're going by more quickly than they should.

It's been a neat experiment. Now that I've collected all my data, I guess I can go back to driving as fast as I prefer.

Just kidding!
