An Object at Rest

I have scientifically studied a particular issue for months, and I am now ready to unveil my findings to the world. This is a universal truth -- of this I have no doubt. Well, mostly universal. It holds true for those with outdoor dogs and with lawns. I've also invented a new word, of which I am very proud -- "caninically." It has to do with actions performed by a dog, typically a domesticated one.

"An object at rest outside the path of a lawnmower will be caninically transferred into the path of the lawnmower."

Make no mistake -- a dog instinctively knows which grass has yet to be cut, and he will perform some action (ahem...) on said grass just before the mower gets to it.

Or maybe I only notice his actions when my dog does something annoying...?

Big Truth of the Day: people around us typically don't annoy us more often than they do annoy us. We just have this awful tendency to notice the bad, and unfortunately we tend to comment (either to them or to unrelated people) and think only about the bad.

My exercise for the day (based on the Big Truth of the Day) will be to make it a point to notice the good things that people around me are doing, and to let them know that they're appreciated. Part of that exercise is going to be to avoid latching onto the negative things I see; the personality defects that make them not as perfect as I. (No worries. I say that tongue-in-cheek. I'm not that pretentious...)

I have never observed this "caninically" as I do not mow the grass.....what a profound observation. :) As for the other, I think that many times we confuse OUR irritability with someone else's being irritating. Nuff said!

Whatsa matter with Hershey Bars?

Actually, I do have to disagree...most dogs I have known have avoided the lawnmower like the plague...I think it emits enough high-frequency noise to be very irritating.

I suspect you're just on the same path...

At your service,

I've long suspected that Hershey might be somehow... different from other doggies. Since that would throw off the universality of my theory, though, I chalked it up to my imagination.

:)
