free christmas music!

To completely change the pace of the blog, I'd like to spread Christmas cheer and direct you to a few places online where you can legally download free Christmas music.

Amazon.com runs a special every year called "25 Days of Free". From December 1 through December 25, they feature one free downloadable Christmas song (in MP3 format) every day. Click on the link above to get there.

This week iTunes is featuring a new Christmas song by Darius Rucker (of Hootie and the Blowfish fame) called "Candy Cane Christmas". I highly encourage you to get this one. It is decidedly traditional-sounding, and Rucker's vocals are reminiscent of Nat King Cole or Johnny Mathis occasionally. If you have iTunes, click on the song name above to go get it. Next week they'll be featuring a different song.

Finally, my old friend Christ (one of our bass players at Wall Highway) sent me info that Damon Johnson of the band Brother Cane has released a couple of free Christmas songs. I haven't downloaded them yet, but I anticipate they're rockers, as brother Cane was a hard rock band from the 90's. Here is a direct link to one of them, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". I'll be listening to the other before I post a link.

May youhave a great Christmas season already and remain untainted by commercialism!
