Up Far Too Late

As I stare up at pinpoints of light that are actually massive, swirling harmonious cacophonies of nuclear reactions -- not mere pinpoints of light -- I am totally amazed...

First, that Someone imagined and then created them.

Second, at why He might give a whit about my children. And my wife. And my family and friends. And the people that like me. And the people that hate me. And me.

Third, that King David looked up at these exact stars and wondered about the same things about which I now wonder.

I'm only slightly aggravated that David bar Jesse got to ponder this stuff thousands of years before I did. Makes me feel like a rookie.

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?"
- Psalm 8:3-4, NLT

"swirling harmonious cacophonies of nuclear reactions " whoa! pretty deep stuff so late or early in the day!

I edited that sentence a whole lot before posting -- one time for every star I saw. :)

I really just wanted to use forms of the apparently-contradictory words "harmony" and "cacophony" in the same sentence.
